If you’re a journalist covering this year’s Super Bowl, you’ll get to experience two American dreams at once: seeing the big game, and living inside a snack.

For context, a big event like the Super Bowl is covered by a lot of journalists. To make things easier, most of these journalists are placed in a single hotel. This year, the hotel designated for journalists covering the event is the Luxor in Las Vegas — and in celebration of the occasion, it will be decorated like a giant Dorito.

The Doritos overlay first appeared about a month ago, and local publications say that the building is likely the first of many that will see substantial advertisements in the lead-up to the Super Bowl.

Why did this happen? Money, of course. There’s no word on how much Doritos paid to have the hotel literally look like a snack, but I’m going to guess it was a hefty chunk of change. And if other hotels take the Luxor’s lead, it’s probable that many Vegas hotels will soon be branded with Pepsi and Oscar Mayer ads.

However, one cannot simply cover their windows in a giant chip sticker and expect everything inside to stay the same.

The Luxor isn’t exactly the nicest place in Vegas as it is, and blocking out the windows with an oversized Dorito has already caused problems for guests. For example, one TripAdvisor reviewer said of his stay, “My room had white liquid stains all over the window, not that it mattered because the giant Doritos advert on the side of the building blocks any view of outside.”

For all the journalists who have to stay in the Chip, I am sorry. Then again, maybe the lack of natural light will help you focus on the game.
