On Earth, we experience huge tsunamis, devastating wildfires, and gargantuan hurricanes, but that’s nothing compared to the weather of other planets.
Jupiter experiences magnetic tornados and eternal lightning storms. The moon Europa creates ungodly geysers that shoot hundreds of miles into the air. There’s even a planet outside of our solar system that experiences sideways rain of hot, molten glass.
Climate change will surely make the situation here on Earth pretty rough, but compared to what’s happening elsewhere, it’s pretty tame.

1. Pluto’s Seasonal Atmosphere Collapse
The dwarf planet collapses its atmosphere every year which causes nitrogen frosts and a methane haze. -
2. Triton’s Icy Nitrogen Geysers
Triton, a moon of Neptune, shoots geysers of nitrogen gas several miles high. -
3. Europa’s Ocean Geysers
Europa, a moon of Jupiter, ejects plumes of water vapor through cracks in its frozen shell. -
4. Io’s Volcanic Sky Showers
Io is another one of Jupiter's moons that has volcano which blast sulfur and ash 300 miles high. -
5. Ganymede’s Auroras
Ganymede is the largest moon in our solar system and features blue auroras thanks to its thin oxygen atmosphere. -
6. Neptune’s Supersonic Winds
Winds on Neptune reach over 1,200 MPH, faster than the speed of sound. -
7. Titan’s Methane Monsoons
Titan has methane rain, rivers, and seas under an orange haze, creating an alien version of Earth’s water cycle in liquid gas. -
8. Uranus' Ice Storms
Uranus has a similar water-cycle to earth, except the H2O is replaced with methane. There are decade-long poisonous methane storms with rain that freezes once it makes impact. -
9. Saturn has a six-sided hurricane at its north pole that contains electrical storms
Saturn’s Hexagon Hurricane -
10. Mars’ Planet-Wide Dust Storms
Mars experiences winds strong enough to cover the entire planet in dust for weeks. -
11. Jupiter’s Eternal Mega-Storm
The Great Red Spot of Jupiter contains the largest lightning storm in our solar system that never ends. -
12. Venus’ Acid Clouds
Venus has a suffocating atmosphere of carbon dioxide, sulfuric acid clouds, and 500 MPH winds, making it the hottest planet in the solar system. -
13. Kepler-7b’s Day-Night Cloud Divide
This planet has cloud systems that cause one hemisphere to shine brightly while the other is dark and scorching. -
14. Jupiter's Magnetic Tornados
Jupiter's magnetic field creates massive, deadly tornados. -
15. HD 189733 b’s Molten Glass Storms
A planet outside of our solar system, it most likely rains molten glass sideways and endures winds blowing at over 5,000 MPH
