What is the definition of "family?" Merriam-Webster defines it a number of ways; "The basic unit in society traditionally consisting of two parents rearing their children," and "A people or group of peoples regarded as deriving from a common stock," just to list a few. But nowhere in any of those definitions do I see the kind of relationship someone has with their coworkers. 

Employers love to call their companies "families," when really all they want is for everyone to tolerate bad behavior within a company the same way we tolerate our crazy uncles. "We can't kick him out of Thanksgiving just for gambling away our inheritance, he's family."
