23 Businesses Inhabiting Evil Gothic Buildings

There’s a new trend in capitalism that is both super bleak and kind of cool. Basically, a lot of businesses from America’s Gilded Age, like banks and massive office buildings, can’t seem to adjust to the modern world, and eventually close down. But their buildings are magnificent works of art that, thankfully, people won’t knock down. So modern businesses come in and make them their own, like a hermit crab finding a new shell.

The result is strange and beautiful. CVS and Walgreens have been finding new homes in massive gothic castle-like structures.

Even better (or worse?) is when a McDonalds or Burger King inhabits one of these architectural marvels. What used to be the dwelling places of industry titans or old-timey millionaires is now where you order off the dollar menu.

Pick up your meds, grab a burger, and get lost in terrifying, awesome stone temples of the past.
