23 Cool Pics From 'Dang That's Interesting'

One of the internet's greatest features is the ability to see just about any photo whenever you want. The r/[Dang]thatsinteresting subreddit is full of interesting stuff, and has cool pics of all kinds from historical happenings, to neat nature flicks. Here are 23 of their coolest pics from the last month.

The United States proved itself as the world's greatest naval power in World War II, after being tested heavily by Japan's almost equally impressive force. But those ships needed to be stored somewhere after the war, and one photo from the 50s shows hundreds of ships, destroyers, and aircraft carriers mothballed in San Diego. Not only do the pics convey a small visual into the might of the modern military, but each of those ships likely has its own impressive story.

According to one commenter, old ships were often used in tests, including one named Laffey that was nuked, and then sent to Korea to continue service. "Radioactive decontamination of Laffey required the "sandblasting and painting of all underwater surfaces, and acid washing and partial replacement of salt-water piping and evaporators."
