Gambling addicts have a pretty high-stakes bet coming their way.

The odds of a city-destroying asteroid hitting Earth in 2032 have been steadily rising. At the end of January, there was a 1.3% chance, a week ago it had reached 2.4% chance, and today NASA announced a 3.1% chance of impact. At this point, it really seems like scientists are just taking their time to break the news that we’re all going to die.
