If you have any form of group chat with your grandparents, or even older parents, you'll know that they just don't text the same way the younger generations do. Of course we don't expect them to, they didn't grow up with this technology, but one would hope they'd figure out the bare minimum. And that things they claim to value so much like civility, politeness and professionalism shouldn't just evaporate on the phone.
