Asking questions on the internet is a common practice, and indeed the internet is quite a useful place to ask questions. If you want to know something, why not look in the place with just about all of the information ever recorded, with most people in the world able to see it? 

But depending on what your question is, be prepared to get judged for asking it. Because if your question is weird, you better make sure it comes from a place of general curiosity, and not something that is happening to you right now.
