When you think about wrestling and Japan, you automatically think sumo. And while sumo wrestling is still a popular, long-standing tradition, it seems even Japan can’t resist the charms of the WWE. They’ve taken all the crazy theater, trashiness, and costumes of American wrestling and put their own spin on it, and it’s completely insane.

Japanese wrestling seems to feature a lot of girls in frilly costumes, big guys in luchador masks, and most of all, giant fuzzy mascot costumes. 

The most popular wrestling mascot is a giant panda named Andreza, whose signature move is letting his opponent squish his face in. It’s an unhinged mix of a bunch of different cultures, bound together by the shared international passion for public violence and hilarious theatricality.
