If you're thinking about taking on a home renovation project all by yourself, before you go out and buy all the woods, tiles or paint you'll need to finish the job take a long and hard look in the mirror and say, "What am I trying to prove to myself?" 

If you know what they say, "if you want the job done right, do it yourself." This is true for most things in life, except for home renovations. There is a reason people make it their careers. it takes a lot of time and hard work to perfect the skills of building stairs or decks, and let's be honest, most of us don't have those skills, despite us thinking we could pull it off. 

I mean, you could even buy the house yourself, nor did you even find it on your own, you hired people and a bank for that, so what makes you think you can pull off a project?
