The field of medicine has a long and storied history of inventing machines that are terrifying. When little kids are scared of the doctor’s office, I usually think they’re overreacting. But if they had stuff like this there, I’d totally understand. The grainy black-and-white photos also definitely don’t help when it comes to creepiness.
Some of them aren’t so unsettling though, and are just goofy or weird. Leave it to humanity to try to invent a height-stretching machine. I could see people flocking to that if it was introduced today.
