Wearable tech is hitting the market once again. Google Glass failed, but tech companies are returning with things like Apple Vision, Oculus, and a whole slew of screens and lenses we can strap to our heads, and get a little closer to a dystopian Ready Player One universe.

But it turns out, weird wearable lenses and cameras have sort of always been around. Starting with the crazy contraptions from the world of optometry and WWI gas masks, then taking a look at the cameras NASCAR drivers wore and weird space-age experiments. 

There’s a vast array of tech that the eyes of yesteryear looked through and looked cool doing it.
