Mark Zuckerberg gets a lot of fair criticism. He’s probably trying to enslave us all in the Metaverse, he’s a brutally unfair businessman, and he looks like he wears lizard skin. But his most evil act may honestly be allowing all ages to register for Facebook. Since Boomers learned how to post things, the site has become a pre-graveyard of digital meme slop that makes absolutely no sense.

We want to be clear, we don’t find these memes funny, or even understand many of them. This is a collection of what they find funny, not us. But there’s a strange quality to these that almost feels like Gen Z humor. They’re not straight-up jokes, it’s more odd pictures and phrases that are in desperate need of more context, and just sort of confuse you. The phrases “Your childhood was incomplete unless you were chased by a rooster,” or “If you wore these on Easter Sunday, it’s time for a colonoscopy,” followed by a pic of a random shoe, do genuinely feel like deep irony Gen Z stuff. But it’s not. These people are probably just losing their minds.
