Cell phones are obviously a great invention, given that we spend all of our time on them. They connect us, entertain us, and we happily empty our wallets for them. But there’s a tragedy that goes along with the rise of the mobile - the death of weird, cool phone booths.

We all know the classic red British phone booth, but they go a lot deeper and weirder. All over the world, phone booths take on a bunch of different looks. They can be weird animal sculptures, pieces of fruit, army helmets, sci-fi shells, ice-cubey art deco boxes, or even a literal ice cube.

Next time you see a cool pay phone, appreciate it. And then take a picture of it on your cell phone.
