Diaphonization is the chemical process that leaves animals looking more like x-rayed aliens.
The process starts by soaking a specimen in formaldehyde or alcohol solution to stop their decay. Then the skin is treated with enzymes which leaves it transparent. Finally, the bones and organs are dyed different colors to make them more easily observable. Diaphonization is used for research purposes, but also by hobbyists for the pure love of making a dead animal look like an other-worldly creature.
Check out some fish, monkeys, cats and more who have had some color added to their afterlife.
