“I had asked for one Friday off. My boss told me no, she would not be willing to cover it and also said “You are not due for a vacation yet.” I asked 4 weeks in advance. I haven’t been on a vacation in three years. A few days later I smashed the heck out of my finger and thought I had broken it. I went to the ER and got an x-ray. Luckily it wasn’t broken but the doctor wrote me out for three days because the swelling was pretty bad. My boss said, You need three days off because you hurt your finger? Did you ask the doctor for time off? Obviously not. The day I came back, I quit without notice; I already had another job lined up.”
