From 1950 to 1953, the United States bolstered South Korean forces in an effort to fight off the communist backed Democratic People's Republic of Korea. 

But while the war is a lesser-discussed American conflict, the United States put real boots on the ground and those men lived for years as soldiers in a foreign war zone.
