15 Retro-futurism Inspired Designs from the 1970s

Go back in time to see a forgotten future.

By Neill Lynskey

Published 2 months ago

Designers in the 1970s held onto the dream of the Space Age aesthetic making its way into our everyday lives.

French architect Jacques Rougerie created futuristic underwater habitats and vehicles throughout the decade. The Century House of Houston, Texas looks like a sleek, ultra-modern rocket ship, despite it being designed in 1972. There’s also a plethora of luxury cars, like the 1970 Vauxhall SRV and Ferrari 512S Modulo, that feel like they were designed for a modern-day Bond villain.

Take a trip back into the past and experience some things that feel like they’re from far out in the future.
