There are a few methods to avoid getting your car towed. The first involves not parking in a tow-away zone, but, barring that, you can always go for the tried-and-true method of just getting into your car and hoping that the tow guy loses the motivation to take your car away.

Why does this sometimes (rarely) work? Because, technically speaking, a repo man isn’t supposed to tow a car away if it has a person in it (safety and so on).

Crucially, if you’re going to try this method, you shouldn’t try to drive the car, as you risk destroying it or hurting those around you. This man proved the latter by trying to drive his car that was about to be towed, running over the repo man in the process. Don’t worry, he’s fine, but the man behind the wheel is facing charges of aggravated assault.
