If you've ever owned a cat, you'll know that there is nothing quite like their confident presence, filling up whatever part of the house they're in. They claim little spots that become theirs, and when they're gone, it can be hard to see those spots without them. That's why one cafe in Istanbul commissioned a statue to be built of the neighborhood stray cat Tombili, who liked to lounge around in front of the establishment. Tombili was known internationally, and tourists would stop by to see if he was in his signature pose, elbow on the curb, surveying his street. That curb was meant to have a cat on it, and thanks to the emotional but wholesome statue, it always will.
